Everettsville is an unincorporated community in Albemarle County, Virginia, United States. It was named for Dr. Charles Everett, who in 1821 bought the 400-acre tract called Pouncey's of the Shadwell tract from Thomas Jefferson.

Shadwell is a census-designated place in Albemarle County, Virginia, United States. It is located by the Rivanna River near Charlottesville. It was the birthplace of Thomas Jefferson, the central intellectual force behind the American Revolution, author of the United States Declaration of Independence, and the third president of the United States.

Milton is an unincorporated community in Albemarle County, Virginia, United States. In the batteaux era Milton was the head of navigation along the river, but by the mid-nineteenth century horse-drawn canal boats were traveling all the way upstream to Charlottesville, where the head of navigation was located at the very point where the Fredericksburg Road and Three Chopt Road.
