The Rappbode Dam is the largest dam in the Harz region as well as the highest dam in Germany. Built between 1952 and 1959, it consists of a dam, waterworks, hydroelectric power station and reservoir. Rappbode Dam is situated 220 metres west of Rundwanderweg zur Harzköhlerei.
