The Kyoto Art Center is a venue for promoting the arts which is located in the heart of Kyoto, Japan. The center, a three-story reinforced-concrete building, occupies the site of the former Meirin Elementary School. Kyoto art center is situated 110 metres northeast of Improve KYOTO.

Shimogyō-ku is one of the eleven wards in the city of Kyoto, in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. First established in 1879, it has been merged and split, and took on its present boundaries in 1955, with the establishment of a separate Minami-ku. Kyoto Tower and Kyoto Station are major landmarks in Shimogyō-ku.

Some of the most picturesque parts of Kyoto are located in Higashiyama, the eastern region of the city, across the Kamo River.
