Since 2020, the artistic director of The National Theatre is Magnús Geir Þórðarsson. National Theater is situated 300 metres northwest of Bíó Paradís.

Hegningarhúsið at Skólavörðustígur 9 in Reykjavík was a prison run by the Icelandic Prison Service. Built in 1872 by the designs of G. Ch. W. Klentz, it was the oldest prison in Iceland. Hegningarhúsið is situated 270 metres west of Bíó Paradís.
