Kalyvia is a village located in the southwest of Thasos island, approximately 1 km from Limenaria. The name of the village comes from the Greek word καλύβα, meaning "hut", chosen due to the huts constructed by the Asia Minor refugees and inhabitants coming from Kastro at the beginning of the 20th century. Kalyvia is situated 4 km southwest of Tzines.

Kastro is a small village in the interior of the Greek island of Thasos. It is believed to be the oldest village on the island. The village name comes from the old castle that existed here to protect the inhabitants. Kastro is situated 4½ km east of Tzines.
