Mittenwald is an Alpine town in the German state of Bavaria. Although it only has a population of 7,200 people, it has a great tradition of violin-making.

Krün is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It belongs with Garmisch-Partenkirchen as district capital and cultural center as well as other municipalities to the region Werdenfelser Land. Krün is situated 4½ km north of Schmalensee-Höhe.
