Shiwa Castle was an early Heian period jōsaku-style Japanese castle located in what is now part of the city of Morioka, Iwate Prefecture in the Tōhoku region of far northern Honshu, Japan. The site was proclaimed a National Historic Site of Japan in 1979.Photo: Takashi.koike, CC BY 3.0.

The Iwate Museum of Art is an art museum in Morioka, Japan. It was opened in 2001. The museum has a permanent exhibition of works by local Iwate Prefecture artists Tetsugoro Yorozu, Shunsuke Matsumoto and Yasutake Funakoshi, and houses temporary exhibitions on both Japanese and foreign themes. Iwate Museum of Art is situated 1½ km northeast of Shiwa Castle.
