It is a former racially segregated area, situated on the slopes of Signal Hill above the city centre and is a historical centre of Cape Malay culture in Cape Town. Bo-Kaap is situated 800 metres southwest of The Fireman’s Arms.

Portside is a 139-metre-tall building in Cape Town, South Africa. Completed in 2014, it is the city's tallest building and, at the time of completion, was Cape Town's first significant skyscraper developed in the city's central business district in 15 years.
