Brocken, 1,141 m above sea level is the highest summit in the Harz mountains and in the northern part of Germany. Brocken is the German word for boulder and when you see the mountain you realise where the name comes from, as the mountain rises like a cake above the landscape.

The Brocken House is a building on the summit of the Mount Brocken in the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It serves as a visitor center of the Harz National Park and museum.

The Brocken Garden is an alpine botanical garden on the summit of the Brocken, the highest peak in the Harz mountains of Germany. It lies within the Harz National Park near Wernigerode in the state of Saxony-Anhalt and has a stock of around 1,600 types of plant.

Schierke is a small spa town, at 600 metres altitude, in the Harz Mountains. It is a popular tourist destination, not least as a base for walks up the Brocken, the highest mountain in the region.
