Halych Castle, is a first castle here was built in the 14th century by the Polish king Casimir III the Great to protect the borders of the Kingdom of Poland after the incorporation of Red Ruthenia into it. Halych Castle is situated 3 km southeast of Shevchenkove.

Halych is a historic city on the Dniester River in western Ukraine. The city gave its name to the Principality of Halych, the historic province of Galicia, and the Kingdom of Galicia–Volhynia, of which it was the capital until the early 14th century, when the seat of the local rulers moved to Lviv.
