The station is close to the western portal of the Furka Base Tunnel, on the metre gauge Furka Oberalp Bahn, which connects Brig in Valais, via the base tunnel and Andermatt in Uri, with Göschenen, Uri, and Disentis/Mustér, Graubünden.

Administratively, the summit is located on the border between the municipality of Obergoms, to the north-west and in the canton of Valais, and the municipality of Bedretto, to the south-east and in the canton of Ticino. Pizzo Gallina is situated 3 km southeast of Treichbode.
