Tzintzuntzan

Tzintzuntzan was the ceremonial center of the pre-Columbian Purépecha capital of the same name. The name comes from the Purépecha word Ts’intsuntsani, which means "place of hummingbirds." The site includes at least 1,000 archaeological features in an area that is at least 1,075 hectares.

Pacanda is a small island in Lake Patzcuaro in the central Mexican state of Michoacan. The island has a small village with about 400 residents. The island is a tranquil traditional hamlet known for its Purhepecha indigenous culture, particularly its strong Day of the Dead traditions.

Oponguio is a small Purhepecha village on the shores of Lake Patzcuaro in the state of Michoacan, Mexico. It is the site of a modern mezcal distillery.
