The word "Koma", pronounced in Korean as "Koryō " is the ancient Japanese name for Korea, specifically the ancient Korean kingdom of Goguryeo, and the main temple kami of this shrine is the deified Prince Ko Yak'gwang, son of the last king of independent Goguryeo.
