Knossos is an archaeological site in Crete that was occupied from the Neolithic through the ninth century AD. The site was a major centre of the Minoan civilization and is known for its association with the Greek myth of Theseus and the minotaur.

The Heraklion Archaeological Museum is a museum located in Heraklion on Crete. It is one of the largest museums in Greece, and the best in the world for Minoan art, as it contains by far the most important and complete collection of artefacts of the Minoan civilization of Crete. Heraklion Archaeological Museum is situated 3 km northwest of Άγιος Ιωάννης.

Nea Alikarnassos is a town and a former municipality in the Heraklion regional unit of Crete, Greece. It is located within the urban area of Heraklion and since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality of Heraklion, of which it is a municipal unit. Nea Alikarnassos is situated 3 km north of Άγιος Ιωάννης.
