Palmares is a district of the Palmares canton, in the Alajuela province of Costa Rica. Palmares de Alajuela is situated 4 km southwest of Rancho Rafa.

San Ramón is a small town of about 7,700 people in the Central Valley. It is a mountainous area surrounded by cloud forests including privately held reserves such as the El Cocoro and El Silencio de los Angeles cloud forests.
