Mount Lycabettus

Mount Lycabettus, also known as Lycabettos, Lykabettos or Lykavittos, is a Cretaceous limestone hill in the Greek capital Athens. At 277 meters above sea level, its summit is the highest point in Central Athens and pine trees cover its base.

Its decorative sculptures are considered some of the high points of classical Greek art, and the Parthenon is considered an enduring symbol of ancient Greece, Western civilisation, and democracy. Parthenon is situated 1½ km southwest of Papadakis.

The name originally comes from the fact that it was a new area of Athens built beyond Praxitelous and Evripidou streets during the decades when the city was starting to become urbanised.
