Leshan Giant Buddha

The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71-meter tall stone statue, built between 712 and 804 AD. It is carved out of a cliff face of Cretaceous red bed sandstones that lies at the confluence of the Min River and Dadu River in the southern part of Sichuan Province in China, near the city of Leshan.

Wuyou Temple is a Buddhist temple located on the top of Mount Wuyou, in Shizhong District of Leshan, Sichuan, China. It is in the same area as the Leshan Giant Buddha and is the main and oldest temple in the area, being designated as Leshan's key Buddhist temple. Wuyou Temple is situated 2½ km southeast of 大佛坝村.

Leshan is a city in Sichuan Province. Sitting on the confluence of the Dadu, Mín and Qingyi rivers it is most famous for its huge riverside cliff-carving of Buddha and nearby Mount Emei; which together are a World Heritage Site.
