McDade is a census-designated place in northern Bastrop County, Texas, United States, located along U.S. Route 290. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 720. It is 9 miles east of Elgin and 34 miles east of Austin. It is 21 miles west of Giddings. McDade is situated 3 miles southeast of Mowatt.
