The Fort de Joux or Château de Joux is a castle, later transformed into a fort, located in La Cluse-et-Mijoux in the Doubs department in the Jura Mountains of France. It commands the mountain pass Cluse de Pontarlier. Fort de Joux is situated 4 km southwest of Le Gounefay.

Pontarlier station is a railway station in the commune of Pontarlier, in the French department of Doubs, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. It is located at the border between France and Switzerland, at the junction of Frasne–Les Verrières line of SNCF and the Neuchâtel–Pontarlier line of Swiss Federal Railways. Pontarlier station is situated 3½ km west of Le Gounefay.

Pontarlier is a commune and one of the two subprefectures of the Doubs department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in eastern France. Nestled in the heart of the Jura Mountains near the Swiss border, the town lies along the Doubs River and occupies the Arlier plain at approximately 830–837 m elevation. Pontarlier is situated 3½ km west of Le Gounefay.
