The museum is operated by the UNESCO Accredited Advisor and non-profit association Sagobygden that protects the oral narrative and contributes to the continuation of the oral narrative traditions. Sagomuseet is situated 200 metres northwest of Kultur- och Fritidsförvaltningen.
