It was the residence and gardens of wealthy U.S. diplomat Robert Woods Bliss and his wife Mildred Barnes Bliss. Dumbarton Oaks Estate is situated 2,000 feet north of L’Enfant Gallery.

St. John's Episcopal Church is a parish of the Episcopal Church located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., United States. Original plans for the church date to 1769, and the parish church was officially founded by Walter Dulany Addison in 1796. Saint Johns Episcopal Church is situated 500 feet southwest of L’Enfant Gallery.

The Volta Laboratory and the Volta Bureau were created in Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., by Alexander Graham Bell. The Volta Laboratory was founded in 1880–1881 with Charles Sumner Tainter and Bell's cousin, Chichester Bell, for the research and development of telecommunication, phonograph and other technologies.
