It is on the northwest edge of the University of Baltimore campus and on the southern edge of the MICA campus, across Mount Royal Avenue from the site of Baltimore & Ohio Railroad's former Mount Royal Station. Mt. Royal/MICA station is situated 1,800 feet southeast of North Avenue station.

Baltimore Penn Station—formally, Baltimore Pennsylvania Station—is the main inter-city passenger rail hub in Baltimore, Maryland. Designed by New York City architect Kenneth MacKenzie Murchison, it was constructed in 1911 in the Beaux-Arts style of architecture for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Baltimore Penn Station is situated 2,500 feet southeast of North Avenue station.
