The Captain John Bissell Memorial Bridge carries I-291 over the Connecticut River, connecting the towns of Windsor, Connecticut and South Windsor, Connecticut. There is a pedestrian crossing on the bridge on the westbound, upstream side.

Extending along Palisado Avenue between the Farmington River and Bissell Ferry Road, it is a basically 18th-century street view, populated mainly with houses from the 18th to the 20th centuries. Palisado Avenue Historic District is situated 2½ miles north of Windsor Farms Historic District.
