Panjakent, also spelled Penjikent, is a city in Tajikistan. It lies at the entrance to Zeravshan Valley, one of Tajikstan's main tourist attractions. Around the modern town and in its museum you will find remains of one of the great cities of the pre-Islamic Sogdian peoples.
