The station opened in 1950 and is located on the Gdańsk Śródmieście–Rumia railway. The train services are operated by SKM Tricity. Sopot Kamienny Potok railway station is situated 520 metres west of Wejście 5.

The Sopot Pier is the pier in the city of Sopot, Poland on the Gdańsk Bay, built as a pleasure pier and as a mooring point for cruise boats. It first opened in 1827, and at 511.5 metres, the pier is the longest wooden pier in Europe. Sopot Pier is situated 1½ km southeast of Wejście 5.
