Eger is a historic town in Northern Hungary, capital of Heves County, situated between the Mátra and Bükk mountains. Eger district outside of the city is covered in a separate article.
Salgótarján

Salgótarján is the county seat and largest city in Nógrád county, Hungary. Once a small mining town, the city was built in a very modern communist style, leaving much to be desired in terms of classical architecture.

Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County

Borsod–Abaúj–Zemplén is an administrative county in north-eastern Hungary, on the border with Slovakia. It shares borders with the Hungarian counties Nógrád, Heves, Hajdú–Bihar and Szabolcs–Szatmár–Bereg.

Nógrád county is in Northern Hungary on the border with Slovakia. Nógrád is famous for its historic architecture of ancient Gothic churches and stone castles dated to the 13th century.

Heves county is in Northern Hungary. Heves county is a geographically diverse area; its northern part is mountainous, while at south it includes a part of the Great Hungarian Plain.
Bükk

The Bükk Mountains are a section of the North Hungarian Mountains of the Inner Western Carpathians. Much of the area is included in the Bükk National Park.
