Mary Mulgrove, the primary interpreter between James Oglethorpe and the Yamacraws during the settling of Savannah, lived here with her husband John, and actually so did Nathaniel Greene on a plantation called Mulberry Grove along with a distinguished tutor named Eli Whitney who would invent the cotton gin.
