Kaohsiung
Kaohsiung, with 2.73 million inhabitants in October 2023, is the third most populated city in Taiwan after New Taipei and Taichung. It is located in the south of the island on the west coast.
Tainan
Tainan, in Southern Taiwan, is the oldest city in Taiwan. Tainan is famous for its temples, historic buildings and snack food. It may be even more under-appreciated compared to the current capital, but is well worth a stop on a round-island trip for a quintessentially Taiwanese experience for both stomach and soul.

Chiayi, also spelled Jiayi, is the main city of the Chiayi region, southern Taiwan. It is surrounded by Chiayi County.

Pingtung is a county located in southern Taiwan. It has a warm tropical monsoon climate and is known for its agriculture and tourism. Kenting National Park, Taiwan's oldest national park, is located in the county. The county seat is Pingtung City.
Chiayi County
Chiayi is a county in Taiwan. Located in southwestern Taiwan surrounding but not including Chiayi City, it is the sixth largest county in the island of Taiwan. Its major tourist destination is Alishan National Scenic Area.

Pingtung City is the county seat and largest city in Pingtung County with a population of about 194,000. Weather is subtropical.

Alishan National Scenic Area is a national park in Chiayi County, southern Taiwan. Located high up in Taiwan's mountainous spine, Alishan — "Mount Ali" — is Taiwan's most-visited national park.
Kenting National Park

Kenting National Park is in at the extreme southern tip of Taiwan. It is famous for its beautiful beaches and lush vegetation.
Guanzihling

Guanziling Hot Spring is a hot spring in Baihe District, Tainan, Taiwan. The hot spring was discovered by the Japanese troops in the area and it was named Taiwan's No.
