Urgench

Urgench is a city in Khorezm, in . It is a relatively new city, founded under the Russian Empire in the 19th century. An older city called Urgench was abandoned in the 18th century when a shift in a river course cut off its water supply.

The Urgench trolleybus system links Urgench, the capital city of Xorazm Region in western , with the neighbouring city of . Since the closure of the Tashkent trolleybus system in 2010, it has been Uzbekistan's only trolleybus system.
