It was reopened on 1 May 2004, by Seoul Metropolitan Government, with the purpose of providing the public an open space. Seoul Plaza is situated 500 metres north of Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Namdaemun.

Hwangudan was a shrine complex that still partially stands in Jung District, Seoul, South Korea. The complex consisted of two main buildings: a coronation site and Hwanggungu. Hwangudan is situated 490 metres northeast of Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Namdaemun.
