Croghan, is a townland and village in County Roscommon, Ireland. It is situated centrally between the towns of Boyle, Elphin and Carrick on Shannon. Croghan is situated 3 km north of Boherroe School.

Elphin is a small town in north County Roscommon, Ireland. It forms the southern tip of a triangle with Boyle 18 km and Carrick-on-Shannon 14 km to the north west and north east respectively. Elphin is situated 4½ km south of Boherroe School.

Carrick-on-Shannon is the county town of County Leitrim in northwest Ireland, and grew up at a place where the Shannon could be forded. Later the river was bridged, so Carrick and the south bank village of Cortober in County Roscommon became a single settlement.
