The Schauinsland is a mountain in the Black Forest with an elevation of 1,284 m above sea level. It is a popular destination for day trips. Due to the high amount of silver mining, it was previously known as "Erzkasten"; the name "Schouwesland" first appeared in 1347. Schauinsland is situated 2½ km northeast of Gießhübel.

Eugen-Keidel Tower is a 31-metre-high observation tower location on the Schauinsland mountain near Freiburg, Germany. It was built in 1981. The Eugen-Keidel Tower has an extraordinary design with a triangular cross section. Eugen-Keidel Tower is situated 2½ km northeast of Gießhübel.
Schauinsland Pit

The Schauinsland Pit was a silver and lead mine east of Freiburg im Breisgau. From the 19th century zinc was also mined. The mine operated from the 13th century until 1954. Since 1997 Schauinsland Pit has been a show mine. Schauinsland Pit is situated 2½ km northeast of Gießhübel.
