is a community in the province of , in the township of Central Huron, fourteen kilometres southeast of . Founded in 1832 by two Irish Canadian immigrants named Samuel and John Holmes, the community was first called Holmes Hill and Holmes Villa before receiving its current name of in 1855. is situated 5 km south of Shelter Valley Campground.

is a town of 7,700 people in , by the shore of Lake Huron. It is a service centre for the surrounding agricultural communities, and has one of the oldest salt mines in Ontario, dating to 1866. Also a beach community.
