The village of Vila Nova da Barquinha, which is the seat of the municipality, has about 3500 inhabitants. Vila Nova da Barquinha is situated 300 metres northwest of Barquinha Parque.

Almourol is an islet in the Tagus river, in the Portuguese civil parish of Praia do Ribatejo, Oeste e Vale do Tejo region. The small island lies in the middle of the Tagus, a few kilometres below its confluence with the Zêzere River. Almourol is situated 3½ km east of Barquinha Parque.
