The Theatro Municipal is an opera house in the Centro district of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Built in the early twentieth century, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful and important theaters in the country. Theatro Municipal is situated 150 metres northwest of National Library.

The Brazilian Academy of Letters is a Brazilian literary non-profit society established at the end of the 19th century. The first president, Machado de Assis, declared its foundation on 15 December 1896, with the by-laws being passed on 28 January 1897. Brazilian Academy of Letters is situated 260 metres southeast of National Library.
