Abusir

Abusir is the name given to an Egyptian archaeological locality on the desert plateau 10 km south of Giza and 8 km north of Saqqara. About 35 km south of the Egyptian capital Cairo, Abusir is the site of a compact pyramid field, with pyramids and funerary temples dating mainly from the 5th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom.

The Step Pyramid of Sekhemkhet is an unfinished seven-step pyramid constructed c. 2645 BC for Sekhemkhet. He was the second king of the Third Dynasty of Ancient Egypt, which reigned over Egypt c. 2686–2613 BC and is usually placed at the beginning of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. Buried Pyramid is situated 730 metres east of Gisr el-Mudir.
