Livingston is a city in and the county seat of Sumter County, Alabama, United States and the home of the University of West Alabama. By an act of the state legislature, it was incorporated on January 10, 1835. Livingston is situated 3½ miles northeast of Sumter Central High School.

York is a city in Sumter County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2020 census, York had a population of 2,414. From 1920 to 1980, it was the largest town in the county. Since 1990, it has been the second largest city behind the county seat of Livingston. York is situated 6 miles southwest of Sumter Central High School.
