The Monastery of Batalha is a Dominican convent in the municipality of Batalha, historical Beira Litoral province, in the Centro of Portugal. Originally, and officially, known as the Monastery of Saint Mary of the Victory, it was erected in commemoration of the 1385 Battle of Aljubarrota and would serve as the burial church of the 15th-century Aviz dynasty of Portuguese royalty. Batalha Monastery is situated 2½ km northeast of Centro de Interpretação da Batalha de Aljubarrota.
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

The Portuguese Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is located in the Sala do Capitulo at the Monastery of Batalha, near Leiria. It holds the bodies of two soldiers of World War I – one from the battlefields of Flanders, and one from the African theatre – who were buried there on 6 April 1921. Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is situated 2½ km northeast of Centro de Interpretação da Batalha de Aljubarrota.
