Buchenwald was a German Nazi concentration camp established on Ettersberg hill near Weimar, Germany, in July 1937. It was one of the first and the largest of the concentration camps within the Altreich territories. Buchenwald Memorial is situated 180 metres southwest of Block 45.

Hottelstedt is a former municipality in the Weimarer Land district of Thuringia, Germany. Since 1 December 2007, it has been part of the municipality Berlstedt, which merged into the town Am Ettersberg on 1 January 2019.
