Park of the 28 Guardsmen

The 28 Panfilov Guardsmen Park is an urban park near the Ascension Cathedral in east-central Almaty, Kazakhstan. The park honors the Panfilov's Twenty-Eight Guardsmen, 28 soldiers from an Alma-Ata infantry unit of the Red Army who reportedly died during World War II in the Battle of Moscow.

The Ascension Cathedral, also known as Zenkov Cathedral, is a Russian Orthodox cathedral located in Panfilov Park in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Completed in 1907, the cathedral is made out of wood but without nails.

The Ykhlas Museum of Folk Musical Instruments is a musical instrument museum located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Located in Panfilov Park, the wooden building was erected in 1908, simultaneously with Ascension Cathedral. Kazakh museum of folk musical instruments is situated 310 metres east of Park of the 28 Guardsmen.

Köktöbe or Koktyube is a hill in Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest city and former capital. At 1,100 meters above sea level, it is one of the main landmarks of the city and a symbol of Almaty. Kok Tobe is situated 3½ km southeast of Park of the 28 Guardsmen.
