Vester Sottrup is a small town, with a population of 1,452, in Sønderborg Municipality, in the Region of Southern Denmark in Denmark. Vester Sottrup is situated on the Sundeved peninsula, 13 km northeast of Gråsten, 8 km north of Broager and 9 km northwest of Sønderborg.

Dybbøl is a small town with a population of 2,325 in the southeastern corner of South Jutland, Denmark. It is located around 6 km west of Sønderborg. It is mainly known for being the site of a famous last stand battle in 1864.
