The Volta Laboratory and the Volta Bureau were created in Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., by Alexander Graham Bell. The Volta Laboratory was founded in 1880–1881 with Charles Sumner Tainter and Bell's cousin, Chichester Bell, for the research and development of telecommunication, phonograph and other technologies. Volta Laboratory and Bureau Building is situated 540 feet west of Volta Park Pool.
