The station was built along the line as part of a connection to Hohen Neuendorf from the rest of East Berlin after the previous one was cut off by the Berlin Wall. Bergfelde is a district of the city Hohen Neuendorf in the northern Berlin outskirts. The place was first mentioned in a document in 1349 and incorporated into Hohen Neuendorf on December 6, 1993.
