Essen-Hügel station is on the northern shore of the Baldeneysee in the Essen district of Bredeney in the German state of North Rhine Westphalia. In 1890, it was opened directly next to Hügel Park, the estate of the industrialist Friedrich Alfred Krupp and the location of the Villa Hügel, which had been built twenty years earlier. Essen-Hügel station is situated 280 metres south of Villa Hügel.
