Tyner is a small, unincorporated community in southeastern Jackson County, KY. The town is located at the junction of U.S. Route 421, KY Route 30 and KY Route 3630. Tyner is situated 3½ miles northeast of Annville.

A post office was established in the community in 1876, and was given the name Egypt by the newly transplanted Amyx family who felt homesick in the rural backwater, as if they had been exiled to Egypt. Egypt is situated 3½ miles east of Annville.
