In literature, the upper Great Reichenbach Fall is the location of the final altercation between Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's hero Sherlock Holmes and his greatest foe, Professor Moriarty, in "The Final Problem". The Brünig line of the Zentralbahn is an inter-regional metre gauge railway that links Interlaken and Lucerne, whilst the Meiringen–Innertkirchen line of the Meiringen-Innertkirchen-Bahn is a local railway that links to Innertkirchen and the Aare Gorge. Meiringen railway station is situated 1 km west of Restiturm.
