Aurel Vlaicu International Airport is located in Băneasa district, Bucharest, Romania, 8.5 km north of the city center. Named after Aurel Vlaicu, a Romanian engineer, inventor, aeroplane constructor, and early pilot, it was Bucharest's only commercial airport until 1969, when the Otopeni Airport was opened to civilian use.

Lake Băneasa is a reservoir on the Colentina River at Băneasa in Sector 1 of Bucharest, Romania. The lake has a length of 3 kilometers, a width between 50 meters and 400 meters, a surface area of 40 hectares, a depth between 1 meter and 3 meters, a volume of 630,000 cubic meters and a debit of 2.5 m/s. Lake Băneasa is situated 3 km southeast of Bucharest Zoo.
