Cimarron is a small town in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Northeast New Mexico. Popular in the summer for world-class fly-fishing in the Cimarron River it is the closest town to Philmont Boy Scout Ranch. Cimarron is situated 5 miles northeast of Trailbound Tent City.

The name Rayado derives from the Spanish term for "streaked", perhaps in reference to the lot lines marked out by Lucien Maxwell. Rayado is situated 6 miles south of Trailbound Tent City.
