It was built by the Order of Saint John in 1715–1716 as one of a series of coastal fortifications around the Maltese Islands. Vendôme Battery is situated 420 metres west of Crivelli Redoubt.

It was built by the Order of Saint John in 1715–1716 as one of a series of coastal fortifications around the Maltese Islands. Today, the redoubt lies in ruins. Tal-Bir Redoubt is situated 1 km west of Crivelli Redoubt.
