Abashiri City Folk Museum opened as Kitami Kyōdo Yakata in Abashiri, Hokkaidō, Japan in 1936, making it one of the oldest museums on the island. When the museum opened, the collection comprised some three-thousand archaeological and ethnographic objects collected by Yonemura Yoshio, including items from the Moyoro Shell Mound. Abashiri City Historical Museum is situated 210 metres southeast of Abashiri Municipal Museum of Art.

Okhotsk Subprefecture is a subprefecture of Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. It was renamed from the earlier Abashiri Subprefecture on April 1, 2010. Abashiri Subprefecture was established in 1897. Hokkaido Okhotsk General Subprefectural Bereau is situated 1 km northwest of Abashiri Municipal Museum of Art.
